Introduction
ScrutinyAI ("the Service") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal information. This policy explains how information is handled in the ScrutinyAI Chrome extension and related services.
Information We Collect
- Verification text: Text selected by the user on ChatGPT is sent to our API server for fact-checking. This text is used solely for processing and is not stored on our servers.
- Anonymous user ID: A randomly generated UUID is stored locally for usage tracking. This ID is not linked to any personally identifiable information.
- Usage data: Plan type and monthly verification count are stored on the server.
Information We Do Not Collect
- Names, email addresses, physical addresses, or other personally identifiable information
- ChatGPT conversation history or browsing history
- Web page content other than the selected verification text
- Location data, cookies, or tracking data
How We Use Information
- Fact-checking the text selected by the user
- Managing usage limits
- Subscription management
Third-Party Sharing
Verification text is sent to Anthropic's Claude API for fact-checking, processed according to Anthropic's privacy policy. Payment information is processed by Stripe; we do not store credit card information. We do not sell or transfer user data to any other third parties.
Data Storage
Verification text is not stored after API processing. Usage data is stored in Upstash Redis and reset monthly. Local storage data is automatically deleted when the extension is uninstalled.
Security
All communications are encrypted via HTTPS/TLS. API keys and secrets are managed through environment variables and are never exposed to the client.
